Meet Stephanie Yeargin

What is your role at Avison Young?

I am an Associate and specialize in representing tenants in office lease negotiations, primarily downtown.

How did you get into commercial real estate?

My dad was an early influencer as he works in construction, but I did not narrow my focus on commercial real estate until university which offered several courses in the field.

Who has been the most influential woman in your life?

My mom, of course! I am also lucky to have been surrounded by lots of strong women playing sports growing up which helped instill feelings of strength, confidence and reassurance throughout my life.

What advice would you give women starting out in real estate?

Let your work ethic, ability to learn and attention to detail shine through. Whatever your long-term goal is, repeatedly voice it to those around you so as not to get trapped in any sort of "box." Inevitably, good opportunities will present themselves.

This year's IWD theme is Choose to Challenge. What do you choose to challenge or celebrate to help create more inclusion in your community?

I #ChooseToChallenge men and women both to get to know the fantastic, talented women in your workplace a little deeper. You may be surprised by what you learn which will hopefully challenge stereotypes and lead to a more inclusive environment.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

If I was not in commercial real estate (and had the funds), I would be a professional horseback rider! I have been in the saddle since I was six years old.

What women’s organizations would you recommend other women get involved with?

I love CREW and How Women Lead, which both have exceptional networks and opportunities to hear from some very inspiring women.
