What is your role at Avison Young?

Affinity Group Coordinator, providing support for our internal collaboration groups.

How did you get into commercial real estate?

I started working at Avison Young because of the people; I really connected with the team and the cultural environment was a good fit for me. I learned about the real estate industry in the years I've been with the company.

Who has been the most influential woman in your life?

My mother has been incredibly influential, she was a role model for gracefully balancing family time, work time, and personal time.

What advice would you give women starting out in real estate?

Try not to compare yourself to others, you are unique and provide value in a way no one else does. Be confident in your own voice.

This year's IWD theme is Choose to Challenge. What do you choose to challenge or celebrate to help create more inclusion in your community?

I challenge everyone to support a charity that provides support for women. I'm a big believer that we are better when we support each other. Women supporting women is a powerful force and finding ways to give back to my community is incredibly rewarding.

What women’s organizations would you recommend other women get involved with?

Internally, the Avison Young Women's Network is a terrific resource. Externally, CREW Network is a great organization, but even just connecting with other women in a yoga class or book club will build a strong network of women around you, on a professional and personal level.
