Meet Steph Perez

What is your role at Avison Young?

IT Coordinator. I provide and coordinate support for IT related issues in the US and Canada.

Who has been the most influential woman in your life?

I can say without a doubt it was my mom. She hopped on a plane at 17 and left Cuba as a political refugee alone in search of freedom and independence. She taught me the importance of perseverance and service to others with an emphasis on education and independence. I realized that being a gentle and strong woman was not mutually exclusive.

This year's IWD theme is Choose to Challenge. What do you choose to challenge or celebrate to help create more inclusion in your community?

I choose to celebrate, embrace and educate myself on the differences I encounter within my community and the human race at large.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

It would probably be that I have a degree in theater and am a professional improviser. I have also written and performed my own comedic one-woman show about mental health.
