Meet Mark Hartum

What is your role at Avison Young?

Principal, Office Sales & Leasing, Advisory Board for TAAG.

How did you get into commercial real estate?

After taking a real estate finance class at the University of Alberta and hearing the exciting stories of many guest speakers from the industry, I went directly into the commercial real estate business after graduating in 1995.

Who has been the most influential woman in your life?

My mother, who is both very entrepreneurial and family orientated.

What advice would you give women starting out in real estate?

Be your authentic self and live a balanced life.

I choose to honour and celebrate women that don’t conform to preconceived notions of how to pursue their dreams or define success.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I am a professional sled dog racer and spend a lot of the winter in Alaska.
