Meet Erik Dierdorff

What is your role at Avison Young?

Talent Acquisition Lead.

How did you get into commercial real estate?

I was introduced to commercial real estate from Avison Young.

Who has been the most influential woman in your life?

I have to name two people as most influential. My mother was a huge influence in my life. Not only did she work full-time but found the time to raise both my sister and me. My sister also shares that title. As a successful Biochemist who is raising two of her own children, I'm not sure how she manages to own the titles of mom, wife, daughter, remote teacher, while also managing a team of scientists.

What advice would you give women starting out in real estate?

Trust in yourself, don't be afraid to ask questions and surround yourself with successful leaders.

This year's IWD theme is Choose to Challenge. What do you choose to challenge or celebrate to help create more inclusion in your community?

I choose to celebrate all of the women whom I partner with daily as a member of the talent acquisition team. My role provides me the opportunity to work with colleagues across the organization.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I used to have an eyebrow ring in my teen years.

What women’s organizations would you recommend other women get involved with?

I would find local and national groups created and supported by women in commercial real estate.

I choose to celebrate all of the women whom I partner with daily as a member of the talent acquisition team.
