Meet Alison Taylor

What is your role at Avison Young?

Managing Director, Glasgow, U.K. Executive Member and Principal.

How did you get into commercial real estate?

My father was a chartered surveyor and had three daughters, so he encouraged me to follow him.

Who has been the most influential woman in your life?

Both my grandmothers who both worked well into their 60's and raised families as well.

What advice would you give women starting out in real estate?

Be yourself.

This year's IWD theme is Choose to Challenge. What do you choose to challenge or celebrate to help create more inclusion in your community?

I choose to celebrate women's achievements.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

I was a parliamentary candidate in the UK General Elections of 2017 and 2019. I recently had another daughter - 21 years apart from my first! Consider myself very lucky to be part of the AY family supporting me at all times.

What women’s organizations would you recommend other women get involved with?

Most political parties have a women's division in the U.K. who support equality and some use "all women shortlists" for potential candidates to get fair representation in parliament.
