Experienced commercial real estate expert, John Cashin, assumes role as Market Leader with strategic growth objectives for business lines and top talent

Palo Alto, Calif. – Global Commercial Real Estate Advisor, Avison Young, today announces the appointment of John Cashin as Market Leader for its Palo Alto office. In his expanded leadership position, Cashin will continue to be an active brokerage producer, serving office tenant and landlord clients and executing transactions across the region. He also will take on broader responsibilities focused on driving the strategic growth, operational leadership, and market positioning of the Palo Alto office. This includes growing revenue across all brokerage service lines—tenant representation, agency leasing, investment sales and data center services—as well as expanding non-brokerage services, including Project Management and Real Estate Management Services (REMS).

With more than 20 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry Cashin has been at Avison Young since 2012 when he joined as a Principal and participated in opening Avison Young's first Bay Area office in San Francisco.

“John has been a key contributor to Avison Young’s growth in Northern California for many years. His combination of strong production, local market expertise, and leadership ability makes him the ideal choice to lead our Palo Alto office. Under his leadership, I’m confident we’ll see continued growth—not only in our brokerage revenue but also across service lines as we build out a more integrated, full-service offering for clients in this important market,” said Chris Cooper, Principal & Regional Managing Director – U.S. West.

The Silicon Valley commercial real estate market remains one of the most dynamic and competitive regions in the U.S., with more than 80 million square feet of office and flex space in Santa Clara County alone. While market conditions have shifted in recent years, opportunity remains strong in the tech, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing sectors, all of which continue to drive real estate demand in the region.

“I’m honored to take on this expanded leadership role while continuing to serve my clients as an active broker,” said Cashin. “Having worked with our talented team here for more than a decade, I see tremendous potential to grow our platform, attract top talent, and deepen our impact in the Palo Alto market. Silicon Valley continues to be a hub of innovation, and Avison Young is well-positioned to provide clients with the expertise and market insight they need to succeed.”

“Strengthening our leadership in Palo Alto is a strategic priority for Avison Young. By expanding our brokerage and service line capabilities and deepening our local client relationships, we are positioning ourselves to capture new market share and support clients as they navigate evolving real estate needs in this critical market,” added Cooper. “We believe this is the right time to invest in the growth of our Palo Alto office. Clients are seeking nimble, high-touch advisors with deep local knowledge and global perspective, and John’s leadership will help us deliver on that promise. By reinforcing our presence in the heart of Silicon Valley, we’re making a statement about our commitment to growth—not just in size, but in quality and service delivery.”
