Avison Young launches Property Tax Appeal Services in Vancouver, to be led by new Principal, Robert Blouin

Vancouver, BC – Global commercial real estate advisor, Avison Young, is pleased to launch a new property tax service line in Vancouver and welcome Robert Blouin as Principal, Director, Property Tax Services.
Avison Young’s Property Tax Appeal Services will provide specialized property valuation, tax assessment processes, and client advocacy – signalling the beginning of a strong and growing presence across the province in this area of expertise. The firm plans to continue to grow its platform across the country.
“I am thrilled to welcome Robert and to announce the launch of Property Tax Appeal Services in Vancouver. British Columbia represents a significant growth opportunity for Avison Young, and Robert’s arrival marks a pivotal first step in expanding our presence in the region,” said Matthew McWatters, Managing Director & Canadian Leader, Valuation, Advisory & Property Tax Services. “Robert’s strategic vision will strengthen our capabilities and integrate seamlessly with the expertise of our high-performing professionals across brokerage, property management, consulting, and valuation.”
Blouin will lead the launch of Avison Young’s Property Tax Appeal Services, shaping a high-impact service line and establishing a strong market presence in Vancouver’s thriving commercial real estate market. His responsibilities will include developing client relationships, identifying appeal opportunities, and navigating property tax regulations to deliver strategic tax solutions that maximize client savings. These new services are consistent with professional services’ strategy to add technical services across core North American markets where there is a demonstrable client need.
“This new property tax service line signifies an important milestone for our Vancouver market as we prepare to bolster our extensive client solutions,” said Brett Armstrong, Principal and Managing Director of Avison Young’s Vancouver office. “Vancouver yields one of North America’s most competitive real estate markets, so I have every faith that our offering will be in high-demand by clients – existing and new.”
Blouin brings two decades of experience across commercial properties including office, retail, industrial, and development land – with a specialization in hospitality and multifamily, working with some of the largest regional and national investment firms and REITS. He started his career with Deloitte and is one of the most active property tax agents practicing in British Columbia, with a long track record of success at the various levels of Appeal Boards. Blouin has achieved property assessment reductions into the hundred of millions of dollars, reducing thousands of property tax bills, making him a valuable addition to Avison Young’s national Property Tax Services team.
“Joining Avison Young is an exciting step in my career, and I am especially eager to give root to the new Property Tax Appeal Service,” said Blouin. “Our new service will provide access to high-quality, complex valuations and tax assessments, as well as strategic client advocacy – which is one area that I hold near and dear, given my vast experience with advocating for reductions and reassessments over the years.”
