Tunbridge Wells Calverley Square Project

Developed on behalf of client Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, this proposed Civic Development comprising a new theatre and office building, providing commercial office space, a new Town Hall and Council offices above a new 260 space underground car-park, with associated improvements to the public realm, bordering and creating an attractive entrance from the town centre into the Grade II listed Calverley Grounds.

Avison Young was the lead consultant, providing Project Management, Development Advice, Planning Consultancy, Compulsory Purchase Advice, along with sub-contracted Design and Cost Management.

Avison Young lead his project from inception, through the successful Planning Consent and Compulsory Purchases and Inspector’s Inquiry, the first stage of the two-stage Design & Build Procurement and completion of the second stage process, ready to proceed into the construction stage.

Following political changes in the May 2019 local election, in October 2019, the Council decided not to proceed to construction.
