Thomas Brethour has over 36 years’ experience as a real estate broker with a primary focus in land and building development, finance, marketing and adaptive reuse of urban property.
Over his career he has worked in such diverse markets as Ottawa, Toronto, Florida and the Northwest Pacific in the United States.
Joining Avison Young in the fall of 2015 Thomas will continue in his areas of specialty including Investment, Land and Institutional Sales.
Prior to Avison Young, Thomas was a Vice President of the Ottawa branch of DTZ (Barnicke) for 19 years where he represented a wide range of clients including all of Imperial Oil (Esso) dispositions in eastern Ontario for over 16 years.
He has acted as an advisor and exclusive broker for a variety of Academic and Religious Institutions working with their Board of Trustees and is a specialist in the public disposition process; sensitive to the unique requirements of integrity, accountability, transparency and discretion in reporting to a Board or Public entity.
Thomas has extensive knowledge and experience in land development and is familiar with and completed transactions with most of the predominant developers in the region.
He has also worked with many significant public entities including; the Ottawa Airport Authority, Hydro One Networks, Canada Lands Company, National Arts Centre, National Capital Commission and Honeywell Inc.
He has also served on the Land Acquisition Committee for Habitat for Humanity.
Thomas has three grown children and enjoys chasing them around the world.
