Mike Kennedy is a seasoned leader at Avison Young, specializing in brokerage, capital markets, and development strategies across Texas and North America. As Capital Markets Principal, Mike has built and led high-performing teams responsible for executing some of the region’s most significant transactions. With a track record of success, Mike has overseen and closed over $140 million in transactions during 2022 and 2023, consistently driving exceptional results for clients.

Before joining Avison Young, Mike was a founding principal at BOKA Powell, where he led architectural teams in delivering award-winning projects across multiple sectors, including office campuses, hotels, multifamily housing, and mixed-use developments. His leadership in these projects, such as the Omni Hotel Dallas and W Hotel Austin, has earned him a reputation for excellence. Mike has also led relocation and expansion strategies for top-tier clients in Dallas, Austin, Washington D.C., Chicago, and London.

Mike is a respected voice in the industry, frequently speaking at major events like ICSC RECON, NAIOP, Urban Land Institute, TREC, Dallas Regional Chamber, and The Lodging Conference. He is also a regular contributor to D CEO magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and GlobeStreet.

Leadership in Key Transactions:

  • Spearheaded the disposition of Collin Creek Mall in Plano, Texas, a landmark deal in the region.
  • Directed debt and equity financing for the $90M Marriott Watters Creek Hotel and Convention Center in Allen, Texas.
  • Market Leader for the strategic sale of luxury retail properties and development parcels at The Gate Development on the Dallas North Tollway in Frisco, Texas.
  • Led the relocation strategy for FCG, a KKR Company, to their new 102,400 SF Headquarters in Charlotte, NC.
  • Represented seller on the $20M+ Brown St Turtle Creek Dallas property, to be developed as a 20-story residential tower. Worked with an architect to create development scenarios that yielded top-of-market pricing.
  • Brokered the sale of over 1,500 acres of high-value industrial, multifamily, residential, and mixed-use development parcels in Austin, Dallas, and Frisco, Texas.
