Avison Young strengthens Valuation team with industry veteran Mike McFarlane

As Principal, McFarlane will bolster the firm’s valuation business in Ontario

Toronto, ON – Global real estate advisor Avison Young announces the addition of Mike McFarlane to the Valuation & Advisory Services team in Toronto.

Based in Toronto, as Principal and Director, Valuation & Advisory Services, McFarlane will be responsible for leveraging existing relationships across the industry, building a dynamic team, mentoring and developing our next generation of appraisers, and contributing to the growth of Avison Young’s Valuation & Advisory Practice.

Having cultivated more than a decade of industry experience, McFarlane’s knowledge of underwriting and valuation encompasses a diverse understanding of commercial real estate in both the private and public sectors. He has held roles of increasing responsibility – most recently as Senior Vice President, Valuation & Advisory, acting as the provincial practice lead for Ontario and the Maritimes, and servicing a broad range of clients across all asset classes. McFarlane’s achievements include the oversight and valuation of large-scale land development projects, multifamily and seniors housing properties, and various specialty asset types.

McFarlane holds the AACI, Accredited Appraiser from the Appraisal Institute of Canada as well as the PLE, Professional Land Economist from the Association of Ontario Land Economists. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree specializing in Finance and Real Estate from the University of Guelph, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Real Property Valuation from the University of British Columbia.
