With over 40 years of experience in the real estate industry, Ron brings a broad perspective and understanding of the market to his clients. Over that time he has held positions in sales, institutional lending, valuation and financing.

Through his professional career he has held positions with the Appraisal Institute of Canada ranging from Edmonton Chapter Chair, Provincial President and Vice President of the National Association. Ron also sat as the Chair of the Appraisal Institute Standards Board. Advanced appraisal courses were presented on behalf of the Faculty of Extension for the University of Alberta as well as speaking engagements at real estate conferences regarding valuation and financing.

Over his professional career he has incorporated two of the leading appraisal companies in Edmonton and for the past 20 years has focused on mortgage financing. During his appraisal career he was instrumental in developing the first sales data service for Edmonton and providing independent market surveys, both of which remain active today. In 2007 he was a co-founder of Preferred Realty Capital, a boutique mortgage brokerage.

Mortgage financing functions have ranged from a $105,000,000 acquisition loan for a large seniors assisted living transaction to numerous loans for mid to larger investment companies across Canada. Ron and Don Taylor (a co-founder of Preferred Realty Capital) have worked as an origination team for the past 15 years, providing clients with a broad set of solutions for financing structures. Land acquisition and development loans, refinance, acquisition and re-positioning assignments have benefited from this team approach.

Though focused on mortgage financing, the team has been given opportunities to expand the services and counsel provided to clients. These have included the coordination of land subdivisions, undertaking to complete condominium subdivisions, consultations on the financial aspects of development opportunities and providing input on proposed investments prior to the financing being undertaken.
