Michael joined Avison Young in 2008 through the graduate programme. He now heads up the Telecoms business unit of around 55 full-time employees.

As a 2006 graduate from Cardiff University, Michael initially worked as an investment broker in residential property sales at Chestertons and Foxtons. Since joining, Michael has specialised in Landlord and Tenant matters on behalf of telecom operators.

Michael has led the Telecoms business unit since January 2019, managing one of the UK's most extensive real estate portfolios - the Mobile Broadband Network Limited (MBNL), a portfolio of around 20,000 mobile base stations. MBNL operates the combined network for EE and Three, providing coverage to 99% of the UK’s population.

Since the telecommunication code was updated in 2017, Michael has advised operator tenants on how the code affects them and how they may benefit from it. His team has become the leading operator agent for dealing with ‘new code’ lease renewals.

Michael has worked on some of the most high-profile operator projects of recent times including acquiring upgrade rights for thousands of sites during 4G rollout, and more recently, 5G rollout.
