Todd Throndson

After completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Alberta in 1987 Todd started on his career in commercial real estate. With over 23 years of industry experience, all with Avison Young, Todd is an integral part of a dedicated team of professionals. Todd assumed the role of Managing Director of the Calgary office of Avison Young in 2008, after having been the managing partner of the Edmonton office from 1998 to 2006. Todd also serves on the Board of Directors for Avison Young and enjoys providing leadership to the organization. His focus on suburban office leasing has led him to represent most of the major institutional and many local entrepreneurial landlords as well as tenant representation for numerous significant insurance, IT, engineering and accounting companies. Some of his more recent deals include Stantec Consulting (194,000 SF), Credit Union Central Alberta (85,000 SF), Co-operators Insurance (65,000 SF), Red Deer College (41,000 SF), Bow Valley College (27,000 SF), Elluminate (23,000 SF) and ClaimsPro Inc. (several deals totalling over 150,000 SF). Resolving difficult situations and helping people (both clients and fellow employees) grow, develop and become successful are goals Todd strives to fulfill every day. In his continuing efforts to provide leadership within the commercial real estate industry, Todd served as the Conference Chairman for the 2009 Calgary Real Estate Leasing Conference. This one-day conference involved a wide array of leasing experts and real estate professionals and involved lively discussion on strategies, issues, practices and trends in Calgary’s rapidly changing real estate leasing market for the office, industrial and retail sectors.
