Krugman started her legal career at the law firm Coudert Brothers in San Francisco. She then returned to Chicago,joining law firms Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg and Much Shelist. In 1995, Krugman served a judicial externship with former Chief Judge Terry J. Hatter, Jr. at the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She served at Grubb & Ellis Company from 2006 to 2010. Krugman has also been a certified mediator since 2000, and has been a volunteer mediator for the Center of Conflict Resolution in Chicago.
