Jay Maddox is a Principal in the Capital Markets group specializing in Debt, Equity, and Structured Capital. His expertise spans multifamily, office, hospitality, retail and industrial projects, including land development, ground-up construction, value-added to stabilized properties. Since joining Avison Young in 2014, Jay has been instrumental in helping clients with all types of financing requirements including construction, bridge and permanent debt, as well as CPACE, ground sale-leaseback and joint venture equity.
 
Mr. Maddox brings more than 30 years of commercial real estate financing and strategic advisory expertise to Avison Young. From 2008 to 2014, Jay led the successful restructuring of more than $2 billion of distressed commercial real estate as Managing Director of KGI Advisors, Inc., a leading turnaround advisory firm based in Los Angeles.  Previously, Mr. Maddox completed more than $5 billion of commercial real estate debt and equity transactions as a capital markets professional with Citicorp, ARCS Commercial Mortgage (now PNC Real Estate), Gramercy Capital and Weyerhaeuser Mortgage. He has also served as a co-founder, strategic advisor and board member of several Internet and telecom technology start-up companies.

He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate and a regular speaker and panelist at real estate and legal industry events.  Mr. Maddox has published a number of articles on real estate financing, including a monthly column on CP Executive  (www.cpexecutive.com).  Jay has previously testified as an expert witness on commercial real estate financing in both Federal and State court. He is also cofounder and past President of ARIA!, a non-profit organization in support of the Los Angeles Opera.
