Howard Strom, M.D.

Howard Strom, M.D. joins Avison Young after working at Ramsey-Shilling since 2007 coming from a previous medical and business background. As a member of the Ramsey-Shilling team, he focused on effective real estate decisions and solutions to facilitate the business of healthcare. Prior to coming to Ramsey-Shilling he has delivered healthcare to patients as a practitioner as well as building and managing medical facilities, programs, and staffing for a Fortune 100 company.

Dr. Strom graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, with a BA majoring in Chemistry where he was Phi Beta Kappa and a John Gordon Stipe Scholar. He attended Medical School at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, for his MD degree, during which time he also worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He trained in Internal Medicine and Allergy and Immunology at UCLA and Occupational Medicine at UCSF. Dr. Strom is also a graduate of the Executive Program at the Anderson School of Business at UCLA.

Previously, Dr. Strom was a medical director for Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) for 20 years, during which time he managed medical teams and programs. He has planned, built, staffed, and equipped medical facilities for the company. He directed medical programs for the following ARCO Companies: ARCO Solar, ARCO Metals, ARCO Pipeline Company, ARCO Products Company, the Corporate unit, and ARCO Marine which was the largest US marine unit in the industry. During his time at ARCO, he designed medical facilities and programs for efficiency and quality.

Dr. Strom also operated a Medical Consulting Service and served on the board of California Health Decisions, an organization focused on selection and utilization of health care benefits.
