Hiren Thakar

Hiren joined Avison Young in July 2008 as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy where he manages company wide efficiency and integration efforts, long range planning, reporting, budgeting, and M&A.

Prior to joining, Hiren was the Vice President of Strategy and Planning at Grubb & Ellis Company where his team was responsible for executing on the company’s turn around plan. During his tenure at Grubb & Ellis the company created a $90 million public offering on the NYSE (ticker: GBE), launched a public $120 million Special Purpose Acquisition Company to invest in real estate assets, and restructured $80 million in debt. In addition his responsibilities included managing long range planning, budgeting, and reporting. Hiren also coordinated the process to market and sell Grubb & Ellis that led to the merger with Triple Net Realty Advisors.

Hiren joined from Huron Consulting Group where he was a Management Consultant. Working with Grubb & Ellis as a client, Hiren led the team to develop a 5 year strategy for Grubb & Ellis’ and execute on various projects to improve profitability. Additionally, Hiren’s management consulting experience includes leading teams on financial, M&A, and operational efficiency projects for blue chip clients in real estate, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, and higher education.

Hiren also has experience working as a Management Consultant at Strategic Decisions Group and a Product Engineer at Kraft Foods.
