Bruce started his real estate career in 1981 as Vice-President of Gleaneagles investment company, a family owned asset since 1931 which is widely considered one of Montreal’s most exclusive apartment complexes. He acted as manager and helped negotiate its disposition in 1987, along with other family controlled commercial property. Subsequently in 1990, he obtained his broker’s license and decided to specialize in retail leasing in the downtown core, where the vacancy rate had been escalating.
After brokering leases to GAP, Mexx, Guess, Aldo, Le Chateau, Footlocker and others, his reputation as a professional and his integrity as a tenant rep broker became widely known.
He also initiated, in 1998, the concept for the eventual re-development of the St-James property on Ste. Catherine Street.
His clients are the leading national and international retail companies, based in Canada and the U.S.
In 1994, he leased the first Mexx (Holland) store in Canada and began to focus more on European based companies. In 2005, he was contacted by H & M and the end result was their existing Ste. Catherine and Peel Street location, the flag ship of the their Canadian operations and his seventieth lease transaction in the prime retail area of Canada’s longest retail corridor, Ste. Catherine Street.
In 1996, he represented Pyxis real estate equities properties and accomplished the assembly of five contiguous buildings on de la Montagne Street for re-development into the existing fully leased high end retail space and completed lease transactions with Diesel (Italy) and Aigle (France) within the project.
