Social Responsibility

Corporate social responsibility is highly valued at Avison Young. The company encourages employees to be involved in the community, whether through coaching amateur sports, serving on charitable boards and foundations  or donating time and resources to civic initiatives. For the past decade, Avison Young employees have contributed financially to the United Way, as well as to a vast number other charitable organizations.  Community and charitable events are incorporated into the company’s annual general meeting, Young Guns development programs and client outreach activities.

Green practices begin at home

As Avison Young offices expand and grow, LEED certification and BOMA “Best” designations are primary considerations in the selection of new office locations. Energy efficiency and carbon-footprint-reduction practices, including recycling, janitorial practices and water management, are key criteria in both new space build-outs as well as in standard Avison Young office operations.

In 2012, Avison Young moved to new headquarters office space at 18 York Street in Toronto ― a LEED Gold-certified facility featuring state-of-the-art building materials, deep-water cooling, an urban forest and green roof, energy efficient under-floor HVAC, dimmable lighting and other features to ensure maximum energy savings and minimal environmental footprint.  The space is steps away from the largest mass transit hub in Canada (Union Station).
