UAP (NAPA) relocations from Burnaby to Langley, BC

Moving On
When NAPA Auto Parts established their warehouse / distribution facility in the Brentwood area of Burnaby, it was an older industrial district, filled with similar facilities.

By 2003, a new Sky train metro line had opened, running east-west through north Burnaby. Land use change coincided with the new rapid transit option, bringing mixed density residential and retail uses in place of industrial. Condominiums, townhomes sprouted, along with big box, strip centre and enclosed mall retail. Residential and retail generated acute traffic congestion, quickly making NAPA's location less suitable for distribution purposes.

As their lease neared conclusion, NAPA consulted with Avison Young to evaluate all their options. They concluded that expansion plans required a larger facility. They also wanted a location with better transportation connections for reaching all of the Vancouver Metro Area, which has been steadily expanding East.

On NAPA's behalf Avison Young negotiated a new, build-to-suit, facility in the suburb of Langley, South East of Vancouver. This location, next to an onramp for the Trans Canada Highway and along the route to the new Fraser River Crossing (scheduled to open in 2007), will give NAPA a distribution warehouse at the future hub of Greater Vancouver's highway infrastructure.
