Professional Experience 
With more than 15 years of combined experience in the Corporate Communications/ Public and Media Relations/ and Journalism fields, Sherry joined Avison Young in July 2008 as Director of Corporate Communications (B.C.). In August 2009, she was appointed National Director of Communications and Media Relations to develop and implement communications and marketing strategies to enhance the reputation of Avison Young as a leader in the commercial real estate industry. She also continues to manage the company’s national Media Relations functions.
In addition to writing Avison Young's comprehensive Office Leasing, Industrial and Investment Market Reports and copyediting the company's national market reports, Sherry arranges media interviews for the CEO, principals and brokers; writes local and national press releases on market trends, company acquisitions, major transactions and other expansions; assists brokers with their marketing activities and presentations; and writes feature articles on real estate trends. As a result of her efforts, the company was quoted in more than 900 daily newspapers, industry publications and online media outlets in the first 12 months of her joining the company.
Prior to joining Avison Young, Sherry was a PR consultant and writer for various real estate organizations. Her clients have included Bentall Capital, Macdonald Realty, Cushman & Wakefield LePage, Penreal Capital Management, GWL Realty Advisors, Chandler Development Group, and Trademark Custom Homes and Renovations.
In the 1990s, Sherry served as Director of Corporate Communications (Western Canada) for Royal LePage Commercial/Cushman & Wakefield LePage and, prior to that, National Director of Communications (Canada and U.S.) for NRS National Real Estate Service/Block Bros. Realty. Before that, she was the real estate reporter at Business in Vancouver Newspaper and assistant editor at Vancouver’s Business Report Magazine . She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Honours English from the University of British Columbia.
