In 2000 Karnie was drafted by the New York Mets whereby he went on to receive a full baseball scholarship at Arkansas State University and graduated with a Business Finance Degree. Karnie entered the commercial real estate industry in the spring of 2005 as an assistant to Mark Hartum. His focus has been managing large corporate clients in the Edmonton downtown and suburban office leasing markets. Karnie's strengths include coordinating marketing strategies, maintaining databases, forecasting and reporting.
